    Gecko — Gold Coast and Hinterland Environment Council Assoc. Inc.

    Gecko is the peak regional environment group on Queensland’s Gold Coast. It is a non-profit, non-party political, volunteer organisation that actively promotes, conserves and restores the natural environment of the Gold Coast region in partnership with member groups and the wider community.

  • Regional Natural Resource Bodies (Regional NRM bodies)

    Regional NRM bodies are responsible for protecting and managing Australia's natural resources. To do this, regional NRM plans were developed. These plans outline how a regional body will identify and achieve the region's NRM targets. There are 56 bodies in Australia. Fourteen of these are in Queensland.

  • Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF)

    ACF is Australia’s major non-government conservation organisation. For more than 30 years, ACF has been the voice of Australians concerned about the environment. This is a well-designed and regularly updated site, with information on campaigns, policy and other conservation-related issues.

  • Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA)

    Want to get your hands dirty doing practical conservation for the Australian Environment? CVA has volunteer opportunities across Australia every day of the year, including priority wetland rehabilitation under the Revive our Wetlands program.

  • Landcare

    Landcare is a voluntary community organisation that aims to improve natural resource management, with around 4000 groups operating nationally. Landcare operates largely in rural Australia, involving 40 percent of farmers, who manage 60 percent of land and 70 percent of the nation’s diverted water.

  • WetlandCare Australia

    WetlandLink is a newsletter and a wetland management resource that provides targeted information to assist landholders with best practice environmental management.

  • Nature Conservation Council (NCC)

    The Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales is the peak umbrella organisation for over 100 conservation and environment groups in New South Wales. NCO deals with a wide range of conservation issues in New South Wales.

  • Hunter Wetlands Centre

    The Hunter Wetlands Centre is Australia’s only dedicated Wetlands Centre managed by a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation. Today, it provides a place of education, conservation and nature tourism. The Centre conducts organised walks, provides interactive displays, and maintains observation sites.

  • New South Wales Murray Wetlands Working Group

    The New South Wales Murray Wetlands Working Group rehabilitates degraded wetlands and improves the management of wetlands throughout the River Murray and Lower Darling catchments in New South Wales by linking community and best scientific understanding.

  • Wetlands International – Oceania

    Wetlands International operates in Australia and the Pacific Islands from offices in Canberra and Brisbane (Australia) and Suva (Fiji).

  • Queensland Wader Study Group

    QWSG is a special interest group within Birds Queensland. The Queensland Wader Study Group is a voluntary organization. It was formed to further research on both migratory and resident waders (shorebirds) in Queensland, and to work for their conservation.

  • Birds Australia

    Birds Australia began life as the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) in 1901. We thought that title was a bit of a mouthful, so now we call ourselves Birds Australia. Birds Australia is dedicated to the conservation, study and enjoyment of Australia's native birds and their habitats.

  • Wetlands International’s global website

    Wetlands International is the only global NGO dedicated to the conservation and wise use of wetlands. We work globally, regionally and nationally to achieve the conservation and wise use of wetlands, to benefit biodiversity and human well-being.

  • Ramsar

    Mission Statement: "The Convention's mission is the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local, regional and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world" (Ramsar COP8, 2002).

  • World Wetland Network (WWN)

    The WWN is a global network of 500 wetland Non Government Orgaisation’s (NGO's) initiated at the World NGO conference on the eve of the Ramsar COP10 meeting, November 2008, in Changwon, South Korea. It arose from the need for NGOs to maintain contact with each other at and between Ramsar meetings, but will also help with information exchange, sharing of best practice and lobbying on specific wetland issues.

  • Ducks Unlimited USA

    Ducks Unlimited USA is the largest wetland conservation organisation in the United States of America.

  • Ducks Unlimited Canada

    This organisation fostered the creation of Wetland Care Australia.

  • Ducks Unlimited New Zealand

    Ducks Unlimited NZ is Wetland Care Australia’s sister organisation.

    Greenpeace, the International environmental activist organisation, is particularly renowned for their anti-nuclear shipping and anti-whaling stance.

  • World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
