Location

Feather palm swamp wetlands formerly occurred most frequently on the coastal plain between Tully and Cairns, while fan palm swamp wetlands were distributed between Cape Tribulation and Innisfail. Both are now restricted to small patches only. From an original extent of 4648ha, less than 1821ha of feather palm swamp wetlands remain in scattered remnants extending along the coastal strip from just north of the Daintree River in the north to just south of Ingham in the south (a range of only 225 km).
